The Portsmouth Water Division routinely monitors water quality parameters and performs water quality sampling and analysis as directed by the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act. Water sources are monitored for radioactive, biological, inorganic, volatile organic, or synthetic organic contaminants. A full list of the required sampling parameters can be found by clicking on the "New Hampshire sdwalist" link below. The Annual Water Quality Reports only require that water suppliers report those contaminants that were detected in the water. The state requires us to monitor for certain substances less often than once per year because the concentrations of these substances do not change frequently. In these cases, the most recent sample data are included, along with the year in which the sample was taken.
